Dusty is the proprietor of The Bates Motel in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The reference to Psycho is supposed to be the main selling point of the place. (Hygiene is not.) So it's a little unclear who would want to spend the night there. Dusty says the Bates just about pays for itself, partly with the help of t-shirt sales. I said I was happy to see on one of the signs at reception that the motel is "wireless enabled." "Mother would have wanted it that way," said Dusty.
